Updates as and when time is available.

March - April 2015

March - April  Weather: Well a mix bag from heavy rain to very hot sun and below freezing some nights. Still inside most of the time with the last wall for the kitchen to build, wire, plumbed, plaster and decorate. At last the kitchen handles have arrived so we can open cupboards and draws, always helps! So now Gerry can fill them, so all the boxes from the move can be emptied. More space to fill?
Clear house main Outside yes the grass is growing, so all the mowers require a service and the yellow one some maintenance. Big red as we call it, ran so well after the winter storage and service, also another repair of the deck over winter. But just as I finished the first cut of the year the rear axel snapped, so after a few chosen words and pushing it back to the workshop the offending parts are removed so we can asses part numbers and if possible order them.

Inside all above is nearly completed and even the kitchen sink goes in.

Outside the main veg plot in the field has another rotavation, the outside lights are wired and fitted, Polly tunnel has seed beds sown. Inside we have completed the kitchen or so we thought but just need a few more chestnut planks and even more handles. Still its Easter and a weekend off, so I have been told,
Weather is good so after repairing and tuning the yellow mower we are off for a second cut. We have also enlarged the chicken run, we did have them all out again, but Mr. fox attacked in the day, The cockerel put up a good fight and survived this time. But for us it was time to act, just one of the country facts of life.

Well with more wood cupboards completed, also ordered some more handles and hinges. Tractor and digger out of mothballs, serviced and cleaned up. Next up some shelves as we have some of the chestnut left.
Seeds are doing well and we have even had our first strawberries. All that stone on the right has to me moved, but we still require much for the barn and other outside walls.
So we have to move it all, which means clearing a space behind the barn. In the field vegetable plot we have now planted main crop potatoes, peas, beetroot and parsnips.

More strawberries, as we are digging and clearing around the back of the barn we find more old relics, I am sure I can use them somewhere. Big red's axel has arrived so a big clean up of the axel then Daniel stripped it down and replaced the part, you would not think just a mower could be so complicated. Still when we asked locally for a price for the part they where talking in the region of 2000 euros, well from the UK under 100 pounds so thanks Daniel.
Next two months we will finish off the main kitchen by moving everything and putting a floor down. Continue work on the gardens weather permitting. Then still we also have to think about wood for next winter, also move all that stone...
