So we are now on our own and the first job in the second week in
February is to bring up the scaffolding, block's and cement to repair
the gable ends and stabilise them ready for the roof. Gerry now mixing
and me laying, the winch we have, 200KG is great for this.![]() |

Next we have to move round to the north side to start on the stone wall,
at the base it is 7M and over the roof to the left some 12M long, add
that to the height of 6.5M and we will need some stone. First we have to dig out the bank and clean up to gain access. The soil we move out we have expanded one of Gerry's front flower beds. |

First part of the build is to bring it up to damp course level and to
slop the wall slowly back as it is 600 mm at the base which needs to
reduce to 300 mm over the first meter high so we have been using some
the largest stone for the base section
building it into the old walls each side. As we have a few showers
around we are covering up as the rain will wash out the stone. |

Roofer has been today to complete his final measurements, so hopefully
next month they will start the roof construction. We will have the carpentry done first as we then have to go back up and fill in the rest of the gables and repair the chimney so then the roof can be covered with slate, should be an interesting month. Just a few views again from the top, left a view to the south, right to the north up the drive way disappearing over the fields. |

In the mean time the windows and doors have arrived for the kitchen,
hall, computer room and workshop. With installation next week it is very
exciting. It will be good to remove the boards. |

Meanwhile this weekend we have to clear the rear of them inside each
door and window, but we are also able to build a bit more of the wall.![]() |

A little bit disappointed as two of the windows, one in the workshop,
one in the computer room measured by them are to large and have to be
remade, also a few other problems as unlike the UK they all have their
own jobs so fitters just put them in no finishing or making good.![]() |

|
Still must not be so disappointed, as we are up just over head height
with the wall now we have to dig out a large soakaway and fill just
below the damp proof line with rubble, gravel and sand to create a flat
surface to continue building and giving a good base to start scaffolding
for the next stage. Just for you information...We went out this Sunday not often we do this but it was our 40th wedding anniversary. |

Still sorting stone on any odd few hours between showers. |

| So another good month, next month we will hopefully be on with the stone wall on the north side, have the rest of the windows fixed and then on to the roof. | |||
